Beyond the flavors needing to be robust, I didn’t want a recipe that took a decade to make– because let’s be honest, it’s mac and cheese and who’s got time for lengthy mac and cheese prep?! And then there’s the topping, which had to be crunchy, crispy, and tie everything together. I think I’ve tried every cheese combination under the sun and so many cheese-to-noodle ratios that I’ve lost count. What in the what?! Let me tell you, I have tried working through dozens of iterations over the years, and to be honest, none have been worth sharing - until now of course. Here I’ve been sharing recipes for nearly 8 years and yet, I’ve included a standard baked mac and cheese recipe. Love mac and cheese? Us too! Try our Jalapeño Popper Mac & Cheese or BBQ Pork Mac & Cheese that is made in one pot! Remove from the oven and let the pasta stand, covered, 5 minutes before serving. The is the best Baked Mac and Cheese we’ve ever tasted! It’s ridiculously creamy, cheesy, and rich with the perfect blend of cheeses and the ultimate crispy topping! Plus, it’s not a recipe you need to slave over all day - we’ve made it as simple as possible! Turn the broiler to high and broil the macaroni and cheese until it is golden brown on top and bubbling, about 10 minutes (watch the macaroni and cheese closely as broiler intensities vary).Sprinkle the bread crumb mixture over the top and continue to bake for 25 minutes more. Wearing oven mitts, remove the foil and stir the macaroni.Cover the sheet pan with aluminum foil (you may need 2 sheets), crimping it tightly around the edges to seal (make sure to get a good seal on the foil, otherwise the pasta won’t cook). Pour the mixture into the prepared sheet pan, spreading it in an even layer. Add the uncooked macaroni and stir until well coated. Whisk the whole milk, evaporated milk, cream, onion, garlic powder, salt, and the Cheddar and fontina cheeses in a large bowl.

Combine the bread crumbs and Parmigiano Reggiano cheese in a medium-size bowl. Grease a rimmed sheet pan with the room-temperature butter and set aside.
